"Clair," she said shyly, "nice to meet you." Turning to the other girl, she said sweetly, "bye."

She stood, her books all collected. She carefully set them down on a table and smoothed down her pretty blue blouse.

"Thank you," she said, smiling, her pale cheeks turning an almost unnoticeable light shade of pink. She delicately sat down on the very edge of the chair.

Catherine smiled faintly and turned her gaze back to her book as she sank back against the wall.

Clair carefully pulled one book from the pile, steadying the others with another hand. She brushed off its spotless cover and flicked through the pages, finally stopping on a page with the words 'Chapter 27' printed in bold. Her eyes quickly swept over the page, taking in all the information, before she swiftly turned to a new page. She devoured the book, then carefully placed it beside her and plucked a new one from the pile. The words 'Pride and Prejudice' seemed to smile at her as she opened it.

After having the encounter with Clair, Jane decided to get away from that group before she made a fool of herself. She walked away quickly, keeping her eyes low. She doesn't see where she is going and almost runs into someone, who is also in a hurry. She politely apologizes while they look down on her frowning. Again she walks away. She sighs. Sometimes she feels like she needs glasses, though she hates them. Why does everyone love them? Because they make them look smart? Jane thought that was the silliest thing she's ever heard.
