You can hide underneath me
The tom let out a sharp yowl. "Star!" he howled, chasing after the dog. His sister tried to say something, but she was too weak from the dog's attack. She was trapped in the beast's jaws at that very second. "Star!" he cried again, running as fast as he possibly could. He was gaining on the dog. Just a little bit farther and he could jump onto its back.
And come out at night
Suddenly, everything went black. He looked up at the sky. The moon was gone. One second it was there, and then it just vanished. "Star!" he tried again, but he couldn't see her, or the dog for that matter. He heard her faint scream, growing more and more distant. The dog's growling overwhelmed her voice, covering it, until it too faded away. She was gone. His baby sister. Dead. He collapsed to the ground helplessly, tears leaking out of his eyes. "Star," he whispered.
When I turn jet black
The memory flashed through his mind as he walked through the trees. His face was dull, emotionless, though his heart was heavy. He glanced up at the sky. The moon was right there, where it was supposed to be. Why wasn't it there that night? The one night he had actually needed the moon to light his path was the one night that it betrayed him. Because of the moon's absence, his sister had died. He hated the moon. He glared up at it, hating every last crater. He hung his head sadly. 9 moons and not a day went by the he didn't miss his sister. Star. He sighed. "Why?" he whispered faintly to himself, his voice shaking. "Why?"
And you show off your light
He shook the memories from his mind. He would find a new life. He had to leave the tattered fragments of his once happy life behind now. If he did this, he had a chance at a new, fresh life. One with happiness, real, lasting happiness. Hopefully. He paused for a moment to calm himself before continuing on. He stopped as he reached a thin strip of ground with the overwhelming scent of cats. But not just any cats. RiverClan.
I live to let you shine
