WOLF PACK
a wolf pack living on the edge of a tundra in a forest
HISTORY
a long time ago, almost a century, there was a wolf that was abandoned by his pack. he traveled hundreds of miles and eventually found a mate in an icy tundra. it expanded from there into a pack.
LOCATION and TERRITORY
although the pack rotates where their camp is, their territory mainly stays the same. They border a tundra and have a bit of territory in it, but they are forested for the most part. There are several streams and one large river. There is one rocky camp and one large group of hills. there is a cave called the cave of the moon where the healers communicate with the dead.
TRADITIONS
a new litter of pups is a cause for celebration.
to become an apprentice, the alphas and beta decide what would be best. then they choose what they think is the best mentor for that pup, and ask him/her if they would be willing to mentor. if he/she says yes, there is a small ceremony.
in becoming a warrior, the new warrior goes for one day and one night on his/her own. if they survive, they become a warrior.
in becoming a healer, the new healer goes to the cave of the moon on the first full moon of their healer-ship. there, the moon will bless them, as will the deceased.
both alphas talk together to choose a beta.
any wolf but pups and healers may challenge the alpha male. it is a fight until one backs down or dies.
the alpha female is chosen by the alpha male, though anyone can challenge her.
the alphas may mate with anyone, but usually each other.
males, if they disperse when they reach warrior-hood, may keep in touch with the wolf pack or even become allies.
if you are an omega, warrior, or beta, you may officially challenge anyone in a fight to rise in rank. you may fight anyone unofficially, but if anyone is seriously wounded in these fights, there will be punishment.
names can be virtually anything.

RULES
the rules you must follow to roleplay a member of the pack, or to stay a member of the pack
IC
protect the pups and healers.
do not keep secrets from the alphas.

try to have only one or two special positions. keep the pack populated with warriors
if you do not roleplay a character for over a week, they will be demoted
have fun!!
POSITIONS
I - alpha male - the male 'leader' of the pack. he gets all privileges, and mates with the alpha female.
II - alpha female - the female 'leader' of the pack. she gets all privileges, and mates with the alpha male.
III - beta - the second in command, either a male or female. they get second-best things, and is dominant to most.
 IV - healer - the wolf that can heal others in the pack. healing can involve binding wounds or partially curing illness. most wolves will defend the healer in a fight, so he/she is neither dominant or subordinate.
V - apprentice healer - a wolf learning to be a healer. they can heal in emergencies but usually do not without supervision.

VI - warrior - a normal wolf. they can range anywhere from almost beta or alpha to nearly omega. they can be male, but are usually female. they fight, hunt and much more.
VII - apprentice warrior - a young wolf apprenticed to an experienced one, learning to hunt and fight. they are usually quite submissive.
VIII - pup - a young wolf cared for by the entire pack. they play dominant/submissive, but are not really either.
IX - omega - the most submissive member of the pack. usually a male, they take care of the pups and are an outsider.
