Valerie waited for Connor to come. She straightened her desk with the computer and sat down patiently.

Valerie looked at him and smiled. "Hello. I'm Valerie. Please have a seat." She said, gesturing to tge reclining chair.

Conner looked at her and snorted, "As if." but seeing she was serious he took a seat, pretending she had MADE him do it.

Valerie looked at him. "The aptitude test will determine which faction you belong in, however the choice remains yours." She brought over a small cup, filled with a blue liquid. "Drink this," she said solemnly.

He rolled his eyes and decided he would just get it over with. Conner raised the cup to his lips, paused and then thought 'What the heck' and drank the liquid.

The room and Valerie faded away, leaving Connor in a room of mirrors.

Conner twirled around (that doesn't sound as girly as it actually is ), searching for all the things that had been in the room before. Realizing they were gone, he walked up close to a mirror, examining the reflection. That was when had the realization as he peered into his deep, dark eyes: he was afraid.

The chair Connor had been sitting in disappeared, and in it's place were two platters, one holding cheese and the other a knife. "Choose," commanded a cold female voice.

Conner jumped as the voice spoke. "Why?" He asked, "Why does it even matter?"

The voice remained silent. The platters faded away suddenly and a dog appeared not far away. It growled ferociously and bounded toward Connor, barking loudly and snarling.

'No.' he thought. 'No, this wasn't supposed to happen. They were going to answer my question or give me more time or something. No, this isn't right'. But it did happen. And as the dog continued to charge, Conner didn't know what to do. He thought for a split second and decided to do the dumbest thing he could think of but the only thing that could save his life. He jumped.

The dog raced underneath Connor, confused for a moment but then skidded to a halt and turned back to face him, barking. Suddenly, a young girl appeared. "Puppy!" She cried happily, clapping her hands in delight. The dog turned to her, snarling and bounded toward her. The girl screamed and fled, but the dog was gaining on her.

Conner looked in horror at the thing that was taking place before him. He sprinted towards the dog, suddenly faster with the girl at stake. Conner decided he would try and take down the dog, since he had no weapon of any sort. He finally caught up to the dog and leapt on it, hoping his weight would over take the dog and bring it to a halt.
