Elise waited behind the curtain for all the children of district 1 to gather outside. A peacekeeper came over to her and nodded. She did the same in response and, forcing a smile upon her face, she walked outside. "Hello, and Happy Hunger Games!" she said as happily as she could. She walked over to a large glass bowl full of little slips of paper. "Girls first," she said softly as she fished around in the bowl. She lifted a small piece of paper from the bowl, unfolded it, and read the name into the microphone. "Isabelle Daniels," she called.

Isabelle, standing in the crowd, walked calmly up to the podium and gave a small smile to Elise. She nervously caught her father's eye, who grinned and nodded at her, as Isabelle hid her nervousness

She smiled. There was a time skip as she drew the npc male's name from the bowl and he came up and blah blah blah. The time skip also covered the reaping in districts 2 and 3.
-District 4-
Elise once again went out on to the stage, said her mini speech, and dug through the glass bowl for the female tribute. "Opal Rivers," she called.

Opal's eyes widened in surprise and she hid her fear well as she walked gracefully to the podium, her face calm and collected.

Elise smiled at the girl, and another time skip covered the remainder of district 4's reaping.
-District 5- Elise repeated her mini speech again and plucked another name out of another bowl. "Leah Enolaye," she called, having a bit of trouble with the last name.
Leah froze. Did she really just hear whats she thought she heard? It couldn't have been her name. Yet, everyone around her stared at her and peacekeepers headed towards her to force her up onto the stage. She wished she could just die right there. She didn't want to die alone in the arena. She just didn't want to. Slowly, she stepped forwards, gently shaking off the hands of the peacekeepers as they tried to pull her along. She didn't want to be DRAGGED to her death; she would rather walk there herself.
Elise smiled and the time skip took over again, swallowing the remainder of district 5's reaping.
-District 6- Again, the reaper said her speech and pulled the name of the female tribute from the bowl. "Dahlia Leoson," she called, having trouble with the tribute's last name.

Dahlia blinked and the darkness swallowed her. And then she opened her eyes and what she saw before her was the reaping and Elise and the crowd and the many people staring at her and the tiny piece of paper that held her name, the paper that could not have been chosen, the paper which would cost her life. And then, finally, she saw her brother, racing toward her through the crowd, trying to reach her, to have one last embrace. But she knew what he was going to say, the one thing she had to keep him from saying: "I volunteer as tribute." As he ran towards her, screaming and crying, she hugged him but kept her arm over his mouth to keep him quiet. Dahlia knelt down to put her head on his and she whispered into his dark hair, "It's ok. I'll come back. I'm going to win this. For you, Jude. For you." and as she said it, he knew it was true and she let go of him as the Peacekeepers came to take her onto the stage. As she stood with everyone watching her, Dahlia smiled for the first time that day. She had to win.

(oh. my. gosh. THAT WAS BEAUTIFUL. I'M CRYING. well maybe not BUT I LITERALLY MIGHT.)
Elise smiled and gestured for the girl to stand towards the center of the stage. She then went over to the boy's bowl and pulled another name as Whispey suddenly felt obligated to make his reaction spectacular. She unfolded the paper and, leaning slightly towards the microphone, said, "Jess Danes."
Jess froze. He heard a loud gasp somewhere nearby and turned to see a young girl forcing her way through the crowd, all the while sobbing and calling his name. April. He couldn't let her get to him. If she did, he would never be able to force himself to go up there. It would break his heart. The crowd parted almost immediately, giving him a clear path to the stage. He took a deep breath and, trying as hard as he could to force out the heart breaking sobbing behind him, he began to slowly walk up. And that was when she reached him. She grabbed his hand and pulled him to her, hugging him. Not April. His mother. He was shocked. He hadn't seen her in years; he didn't even know she still lived in District 6. He let her hug him for a moment, his arms pressed to his sides, before he pulled away. And then April was there. He knelt down to her height and gave her a sad smile. "It's okay," he whispered, "it'll all be okay." He hugged her head to his chest, her sobs muffled by his tear dampened shirt. He couldn't let go of her. And even if he could, she wouldn't let him. He felt a firm arm pulling him back and didn't fight as the peacekeepers pulled him away from her. A pair of them held her back and he smile faintly as she fought them. She was just like him. Rebellious. The peacekeepers continued to pull him towards the stage and he yanked his arm away. He hated when people tried to control him. He stepped up to the stage and looked bravely out upon the crowd. His eyes found April. They had let her go and his uncle was now holding her. He looked up for a moment and Jess caught his eye. His uncle nodded, and Jess nodded back. The first time they had ever understood each other. He even saw a faint smile on his uncle's face. So he could smile. A bit sad that he only learned that as he was heading for certain death, but that was ok. Even if the smile wasn't one of true happiness but sadness and- was that regret? His thoughts were interrupted as Elise spoke.
"Shake hands, you two," she said softly.
Jess peeled his gaze away from his family and offered the girl his hand.

(thank you so much!) and... (IM NOT CRYING IM DYING!!! your post was so gooooddddd!!! i literally (not even kidding) was imagining that WHOLE thing for a hunger games movie, oh mah gosh soooo good) Dahlia jerked back to reality and looked at Jess. So. This was one of her competitors. This is one of the people that could keep her from ever seeing her brother again. She hated this person before her though he had done nothing wrong. She hated him though he was the same as her. A person. Who's name had been picked, who was ripped away from their family, who could beat her to the end, but still. A person. Dahlia didn't want to shake hands with him, touch anything that could kill her and in turn break her brother's heart. But she had to. She knew she did. Dahlia's arm moved without her consent and shook Jess' outstretched hand.

He offered her a small smile which was quickly filled with sadness as he realized that if he ever wanted to see his family again, he would have to kill this girl. And he didn't want to kill her. He'd seen her around school a few times before, though he had never really cared. To him, she was just another person. Nothing special. But he had seen her hugging her brother. He would hate to kill someone so loved, and by doing so would probably gain a number of new enemies in the district. He hoped that when the time came, he wouldn't be the one to kill her.
-District 7-
Elise repeated her speech for the 7th time and pulled a name from the girl's bowl for the 7th time. "Nitara Myandale," she called.
Nitara's eyebrows immediately shot up. It was her? Crap. The people around her parted and she could hear relieved sighs. A large part of her wanted to sneer at them, but she was too shocked. Well, better her than them. They had families, people who would miss them. All she had was her stupid uncle who only cared about alcohol. Her life might actually be better in the arena. She smirked, probably not a common reaction to having your name pulled, but she wasn't a normal person. She walked forward casually, as if simply going to buy some food, and allowed peackeepers to stand on every side of her as she made her way to the stage. They left her as she swiftly climbed the stairs. She gave Elise a cool glare accompanied with an almost sarcastic smile.
Elise was surprised by the girl's calmness and kind of offended by her sarcasm, but the girl was going to be viciously slaughtered. Elise believed that as long as she wasn't hurting anyone, Nitara could do what she wanted. A time skip covered the remainder of the reaping along with the reapings of districts 8, 9, and 10.
-District 11-
Blah blah blah, speech speech speech. Elise pulled the next name from the girl's bowl. "Evie Ana Crow," she called.

Evie sighed. Ok. Her name had been pulled and that was ok. It was all just fine. She would go into the arena and there will be a bunch of other kids who are with her and she will probably have to kill some of them. For her own life, Evie would probably have to take someone else's and that wasn't fair. It had never been fair. All these years, all the killing and the dying had never been fair. It had all been about valuing your life above others which isn't right. But isn't that how the world works? Doesn't it fuel on glory and power and death? That's how it seems to go. And Evie would just be apart of it, let it roll her in and out like the sea. And in that arena she would probably be killed. But dying isn't the worst thing in life. At least she will see her mother again. But first, she had to actually get onto the stage and except her place. Evie blinked back to reality where she saw her father who was calmly walking towards her. She didn't know if he cared, but she didn't mind. He approached her and for the first time since her mother died said the words I and Love and You. And Evie believed him. That was the only light she needed as the Peacekeepers came and finally took her next to Elise, where she stood, her arms at her side, her eyes on the crowd and her heart glowing bright.

(hey! i and love and you! isn't dat a song that you used for one of your bios?) Elise smiled at her before walking over to the glass bowl from which she would draw the male tribute's name. She dipped her hand in, swirled it around, mixing the papers up, and wrapped her fingers around one small slip of paper. Her icy blue eyes on the crowd, she lifted it slowly, unfolded it delicately, and read it. "Peter Flyte."
It took serious self control to stop his jaw from dropping. Him? Weak, nerdy, helpless Peter? He was so dead. He looked around as if expecting someone to see him off. But there was no one. A few people from his advanced math class waved at him or smiled sadly, but that was it. No mother to kiss him on the head, no father to tell him he could do it, no siblings to hug him. No one would cry for Peter Flyte because no one cared about Peter Flyte. No one knew him. He sat in the back of every class, never raised his hand, never spoke. He sat alone in the cafeteria, munching on his small helping of food. If he died out there, no one would care. No one would even notice. Oh, sorry, not IF he died, WHEN he died. Let's face it. He was weak, skinny, and knew nothing about survival (one of the few things he knew nothing about). Peter had absolutely no chance and he knew it. Sighing, he straightened his posture and walked slowly to the stage.
Elise smiled at him. "Shake hands, you two," she said gently.
Peter lifted his trembling hand and offered it to Evie.

(yep that is exactly what it is!) (also, aww, your post about peter and his family made me really sad in a good way ) Evie looked up for a second at Peter and then her eyes fell to the floor. Weak was all she thought when she saw him. Just like her. They both wouldn't last long. Evie shook hands with him and only felt cold.

(oh right cx i forgot about that- nevermind about the traning. also, since there aren't many designers for many districts, check the sign ups- if there is no designer for your district, you can make up your characters outfit (as long as it is similar to the outfit of the other person from that district) thanks for reminding me spotty)
