Isabelle noticed Peter's eyes on her. She looked over at him as he glanced at her and gave a small smile. He seemed nice.

Holly watched Nitara and the NPC male trainee with cation. She needed to help them recognize their strengths and weaknesses. You had to play to your strengths to win, but also, you needed to cover your blind spots, the chinks in your armor. Even if you could best an opponent with your skill, you could make it easier by seeing their weaknesses, and you cannot do that without seeing your own. If you saw that you were bad at something, try not to compete in it. Maybe you're faster but can't do hand-to-hand combat. Run. It is not cowardice, but the need to survive. She turned back to her tributes and watched.

Dahlia payed attention to the instructor with her arms crossed.
Evie found it hard to even look at the instructor, let alone listen. She had other things on her mind.

Isabelle glanced around the room, looking at the different training stations and weapons as she waited to start training.
Opal looked around at the other tributes and waited for training to begin.

Jess looked around the room at the other tributes when one person in particular caught his eye. He tried to remember her name: Ava? No, Evie. He couldn't help but stare at her. Evie.
The instructor began: "here is where you will all be training in preparation for the arena. You are not allowed to injure or kill any of the other tributes before the Games, so if you are interested in practicing something like sword fighting or archery, please use the simulations." She waved her hand to a series of small-ish rooms. "We have materials for practicing any and every skill that you may need in the arena, but you have only 3 days, so use your time wisely." With that, she went off to the edge of the room, watching in case she needed to break up any fights.

Isabelle followed the Career tributes to the weapons area. She hated most of them, but it would be easier to kill them in the games if she won their trust first.
Opal moved immediately to the archery area. One of her better weapons but not her best.

Selena went with the career pack, giggling as she clung to an npc boy's arm.
Peter went over to the camouflaging area and began painting his arm to look like a rock. He knew he didn't have much shot winning with strength, so he would probably end up hiding and waiting until everyone killed each other.
Nitara went over to the hand-to-hand combat simulator and begin to fight. She was pretty good at it, but it wasn't her greatest skill. She was saving that for the test.
Leah went over to the poison practice thing, where you practiced telling the difference between poison berries and safe ones.

Isabelle quickly got bored by some of the Careers, mainly npcs, and she went to camouflage, figuring she could sit around and just paint stuff. She painted a blank area of the floor, designing it to be a scene of trees and plants, as though you were looking up though the trees. Isabelle smiled, just enjoying the peacefulness of painting, even though she would probably be dead in a matter of weeks.
Opal did a brief check of her skills on almost all the weapons and went over to the edible plants station, figuring it could be useful.

Peter looked over to Isabelle and smiled. Her work was beautiful. He was amazed that anyone could be so calm and focused, even when they were only a few days from the slaughterhouse.
Leah looked over at Opal shyly. She knew she was supposed to make friends and all that, for allies, but she was just too shy. Besides, how did she know that this girl wouldn't suddenly turn against her? Sure, she seemed nice, but a lot of people weren't the way they seemed. She decided to keep to herself for now.

Isabelle looked up to see Peter and she smiled back at him.
Opal smiled at Leah. "Hi. I'm Opal," she said. She was currently planning to sabotage the rest of the Careers and needed potential allies for when she did.

Leah offered a weak smile and said softly, "I'm Leah." She blinked. "You're a Career, right?"

She paused and then nodded. "District 4." Then, moving closer, she lowered her voice and added, "I'm planning on ditching them though." She didn't want people to think she was one of the stereotypical, cruel careers. She was better than that.

At first, she was sort of surprised, but then she nodded. It made sense to her why someone would betray the careers: most of them were heartless and actually liked to kill. Her voice so soft it could barely be heard, she asked, "why are you telling me this?"

Opal paused and shrugged. "I don't exactly know myself." She smiled. "May I join you?"

"Sure," she said hesitantly, still not entirely convinced. Right before she had left for the games, her brother had told her not to trust anything the other tributes said, especially not the Careers. Sure, Opal seemed nice, but Leah still wasn't going to put all her trust in her.
